looking back on my 21 for 2021

I have no idea how, but here we are officially in 2022. While 2021 gave us some of the most difficult days of our lives (again) coupled with continued stress and anxiety… I am trying to focus on the pockets of light that were able to shine through anyway. There has been one thing that has finally been able to pull me out of this icky funk I have been in since January 1st: My 22 for 2022 List.

New York City July 2021

If you have been on my blog or Instagram before, you may already know about my yearly lists. I first started with 19 for 2019 and am about to embark on 22 for 2022. If you are new here or need a refresher, check out my 21 for 2021 post which explains the list along with what I chose for last year. Now let’s look back on how last year panned out…

21  for 2021

  1. Read at least 21 minutes a dayThis is one of my favorite accomplishments of the year! 2021 marks the year I have read the most books total (47)!
  2. Walk every single day the weather allowsThis is another favorite. Walking has become such a staple in my routine- now paired with an audiobook it is one of my favorite things to do.
  3. Strength training/yoga 3 times a weekWhile I didn’t stick to 3 times a week EVERY week, I found an outdoor yoga class which I LOVE going to on Saturdays. I still struggle so much with at home/online workouts.
  4. Try zero waste feminine productsThe cup was NOT for me- but I found Thinx which are a game changer! Anyone with a period- do yourself a favor and look into them.
  5. Wear SPF dailyI finally found a facial moisturizer/sunscreen that I love and actually have kept in my daily routine actually using it. I know my future self will be happy about this one! (For anyone curious checkout Supergoop.)
  6. Try at least one new activity (kayaking, paddle boarding, etc.)I just squeezed this in end of year during my trip to The Florida Keys. I went snorkeling for the first time- despite being extremely nervous out in the middle of the ocean I tried it and I am glad I pushed myself way out of my comfort zone.
  7. Phone convo catch-up with a friend every single week- While I got better with this…talking on the phone consistently is tough for me. *shout out to my fellow texters!
  8. Watch a movie I haven’t seen every single week- I definitely didn’t watch a new movie weekly. HOWEVER, 2021 was the year of series for me which made me so happy. Netflix is amazing. Should I write an entire rec list post?
  9. Weekly blog postDefinitely didn’t write nearly as much as I wanted to… but majorly increased my reading. Working on this balance every single day.
  10. Get a car I got my Subaru Crosstrek in May!
  11. Learn how to update blog site myselfWhile I still have tons to learn, I now can do multiple things myself that I had no clue how to before such as adding pictures and links to posts which I am so happy with! A friend helped me totally revamp this blog which I am so thankful for.
  12. Organize bedroom closet- Maybe half on this? LOL
  13. Organize/shred old paperwork- Another work in progress.
  14. Go through all photosI’ve consistently been cleaning out my camera roll all year which is so satisfying.
  15. Reorganize PintrestI barely even use Pintrest these days so I didn’t bother haha!
  16. Reorganize kitchen pantryThis is being carried over to this year for sure.
  17. Set up Notion App- I am always on a quest to organize things better so I want to re-visit this one since I didn’t stick with it last year.
  18. Get second nose piercingThis may seem silly to some, but this one made me so happy and proud. Back in November as part of my birthday I went and got my septum pierced while in New York. Up until that moment I wasn’t sure I would have the nerve to go through with it… but I did and it looks badass!
  19. Create keepsake for greeting cards/sentimental notes/postcardsdidn’t get to this along with my paperwork so I would still like to figure out something for this.
  20. Finish & publish bookThis is a big one. I am DETERMINED to get my book out way sooner rather than later. I already have ideas brewing for more books in the future!
  21. Plan epic 35th birthdayMy birthday turned out amazing despite the fact that the pandemic set back planning international travel like I originally envisioned. I took a two week road trip to visit friends and family (including getting to be in NYC for a couple days… AND Taylor Swift re-released her album Red along with my favorite song in existence. Not much is better than NYC + T. Swift 🙂

Stay tuned for my 22 for 2022 😉
